WE ARE  OUT

The OUT Foundation’s mission is to remove the barriers that block LGBTQ+ individuals’ access and participation in fitness, health, and wellness, ensuring their success.

Our vision is a future that champions equity, safety, belonging, health, wellness, and joyful movement for every LGBTQ+ person, so everybody, in every body, can thrive.

Strength isn’t gendered. Fitness isn’t binary. Belonging is the real goal.

OUT in the Open is a gender-inclusive, virtual fitness competition created to challenge the status quo of how competition shows up in fitness spaces. Here, athletes are not sorted, limited, or defined by gender. Instead, they are celebrated for their effort, skill, and commitment to movement.

This event is about more than workouts—it’s about visibility, belonging, and access. OUT in the Open invites athletes of all identities, bodies, and abilities to compete in a way that honors autonomy and affirms who they are. No forced categories. No compromising identity to participate. Just fitness, on your own terms.

This year, to show off and wear your support we have bold colors and different styles. Designed to help you stand for something bigger.

Looking for a gym?

The Inclusive Fitness Finder is an interactive map of LGBTQ+ friendly fitness spaces

  • An inclusive gym is more than just a physical fitness space. It's a supportive, safe, and affirming environment where LGBTQ+ individuals can pursue their health and fitness goals without fear of discrimination or judgment.

Key characteristics of an inclusive gym include:

    • Diverse and Welcoming Environment

    • Staff Training

    • Visible Commitment to Inclusivity

    • Community Engagement and Support

    • Recognition and Certification

  • Gyms and fitness spaces are evaluated based on their commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity, which includes staff training, inclusive policies, and a welcoming environment.

  • In light of increasing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and the mental health challenges faced by Queer youth, OUTAIM seeks to ensure that future generations, regardless of their identity, have access to welcoming and inclusive fitness environments.

The OUT Foundation is proud to recognize and celebrate the partners who support our mission and help make our work possible.

Together, we are able to support LGBTQIA+ athletes through the OUTAthlete Program, provide affirming wellness and health resources through OUTHealth, foster inclusive sport and fitness environments through OUTAthletics, and deliver education and allyship training for coaches, gyms, and fitness professionals through OUTAIM.

Because of these partnerships, we continue building a future where everybody—in every body—can move, train, and thrive as their authentic selves.
